COV is a statewide digital storytelling project empowering learners to become digital witnesses, archiving local oral history and sharing that history safely on the global stage of the Internet. Copyright and Fair Use

Follow these guidelines when using media (photos and audio/music) in your projects:
  1. Homegrown / Public Domain - Create your own / Use non-copyrighted works
  2. Creative Commons - Use media for which permission to re-use has been already granted
  3. Fair Use - Use media in accordance with fair use provisions of copyright law for the United States.

Remember copyrighted media falls into 2 broad categories: Media already licensed for re-use/remixing, and "all rights reserved" media for which permission can be obtained to re-use/remix OR "fair use" copyright law provisions MAY apply.
